Today we’re taking a look at the very best motorcycle phone mount options on the market this year. Regardless of what you ride – Grom, cruiser, sport bike, adventurer – you always need a good phone mount. It’s right up there with having a great custom helmet in our book. Alert riders benefit from mounts that are durable and adjustable. The best designs keep your phone low-profile, but in view. Let’s get right to it.

Important: Before you buy a mount

Measure your handlebar thickness. You want to keep this metric in mind, regardless of the fact that almost all mounts nowadays are adjustable. Even adjustable mounts will list a range of handlebar diameters they are compatible with. The easiest way to measure your handlebar diameter is to use a digital caliper. Of course, you could always eyeball it and get a rough measurement with your tape measure. In other words, it doesn’t need to be exact.

Consider your motorcycle. While this may sound super obvious, it’s an often overlooked aspect when it comes to choosing a phone mount. What are you riding? What’s your riding style? I once had my Iphone mounted up on my KTM supermoto on a low-quality phone mount. After just a two hour ride, my sim card had become dislodged due to the vibrations traveling up from the engine through the handlebars. A mount with more foam insulation around was in order. Be sure to account for small details like that when choosing a mount.

Best Value Motorcycle Phone Mount: Roam Universal

It’s tough to beat the price on Roam’s universal motorcycle phone mount. Designed to hold just about any cell phone ever produced (up to 3.5″ wide), this particular mount is a versatile as it is affordable. A tough plastic clamp and silicone phone ‘net’ hold your phone securely in place. The silicone is stronger than the traditional rubber and stretches to accommodate just about any phone. This mount will fit handlebars up to 1.25″ in diameter, so keep that in mind. Perhaps best of all, Roam offers a lifetime warranty on every mount and a 100% money back guarantee if you’re unhappy with your purchase.

Our Favorite All-around Motorcycle Phone Mount: Ram X-Grip

Many of us here at FSM are long-time users of the Ram X-Grip motorcycle phone mount, so it only felt right to mention it here. Not only is it well-crafted and durable, it is super easy to use. The design here is simple, yet genius. The X-shaped prongs protruding from the center of the mount are spring-loaded, so opposing force is applied by the springs as you force those arms apart. This is primarily what holds your phone in place. Each arm has a quality rubber end cap situated at the end. This ensures a slip-free grip on your device. The optional ‘device tether’, as Ram refers to it, is simply a rubber net that wraps around the back of your phone and acts as additional holding security. I never ride without mine!

It’s important to note here that Ram offers the X-Grip with two very distinct mounting options. The U-grip, pictured above, is compatible with handlebars ranging from 0.5″ to 1.25″ in diameter. The design is simple and allows for a great deal of adjustability. This option is best for light street riding (we don’t recommend any off-roading with this one!). The other mounting design is pictured below. This is referred to as the ‘tough claw’ mount, and is my personal favorite.

As you can see, the tough claw has a heavy duty clamp that makes mounting/dismounting super quick and easy. In fact, this one is so easy to use that I actually have just one that I use across all of my motorcycles.

Best Motorcycle Phone Mount with Charger

A lot of new sport bike riders are often surprised to learn how easy it is to set your bike up to charge your phone while riding. You may be wondering: how do you charge your phone on a motorcycle? There are a variety of ways to accomplish this nowadays. Perhaps the easiest way is to buy a charger that hooks right up to your battery quick connection (if you have one). However, you can also choose to buy a phone mount that has charging capabilities already built in, such as the universal mount pictured below.

We love this simple Amazon mount for its ease of use, and the fact that it is pretty universal when it comes to phone compatibility. It’s made of durable plastic for longevity. The mount also features a nice, rubber-lined mounting point for extra grip. This mount will any handlebar with a diameter between 0.8″ and 1.2″. For install, you will need to run the power wire back to your battery terminal. But aside from that, installing this mount is really no different than installing a standard one.
